GRI – Building SDG momentum: GRI in discussions with governments around the world

As we head towards the one-year milestone of the launch of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) has been busy ensuring continued action towards the SDGs and further engaging business in the sustainable agenda. In mid-July, GRI organized an event at the first High Level Political Forum (HLPF) since the adoption of the SDGs, and contributed to the HLPF Business Day.
The High Level Political Forum saw all UN Member States gather together to discuss the progress on the SDGs. During the event, GRI and Business Call to Action, a program within UNDP, hosted a roundtable of 15 governments at the Ford Foundation to discuss the role of the private sector in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The discussions looked at how governments can implement monitoring and communication mechanisms to engage with businesses on the SDGs, and how they can begin to measure and monitor business contribution to sustainable development.
