Recent research demonstrates a connection between larger holdings from long-term active investors and stock market advantages.
This latest report investigates the possibility that there are benefits to companies in attracting a core of long term investors, such as helping insulate management from market changes by reducing the share price change when earnings expectations are adjusted. The report also suggests that this reduced sensitivity to market fluctuations should allow management more freedom to manage the business for the long term and this should result in better performance.
