We are close to publishing this year's IR Magazine Global Investor Relations Practice Report, which is due out on November 25, and some of the results are starting to filter through. One of the headline findings is that the gap between what men and women earn in investor relations – a situation we identified two years ago – has narrowed, although it still exists.
The very existence of such a gap came as a surprise in 2012. While some positions are male-dominated – board roles, for example – that has never been the case with investor relations. And recruiters we spoke to said there was no difference between what men and women in IR earn at the highest levels. Just about everyone we talked to about the results was surprised.
